The site is located north of a narrow riparian area that runs east to west through the center of Denny Ranch (Inks Creek). This stand is located on a hummock in a characteristic hummock/swale system where the upland is a California Annual Grassland and the swales are Vernally Wet Herbaceous types (see SNFN0339). Herbaceous cover is dominated by Erodium botrys, and grasses (Taeniatherum caput-medusae and Vulpia bromoides) still have early phenology.; There is no evidence of burning, but it is not unlikely that this area has been burned in the past decade. Grazing impact is obvious from cowpies in the plot.
